GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR PLUMBERS

1st Plumber Training Programme by a Pump Company in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 May 2015– Grundfos Malaysia, the Denmark based world leading pump company, held a graduation ceremony today at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), for its 1st batch of plumbers who completed its 3-month Professional Solutions programme. Grundfos Malaysia’s General Manager, Mr. Leong Chee Khuan was on hand to give away the graduation scrolls.

Grundfos Malaysia developed this programme according to the needs of plumbers handling domestic plumbing issues, particularly on home booster water pumps. Understanding the busy time schedules of plumbers, the programme was conducted once a week for a period of 3 months. Enrolment to the programme is free, and it covers topics on soft skills (communication, customer service, business etiquette and industry-related guest speakers), product knowledge and service/technical skills. The speakers are experts in their respective fields – Grundfos senior executives and external trainers.

Only upon successfully completing the practical assessment at the end of the 3-month programme, will the participating plumber be certified as a Grundfos Authorised Domestic Installer. This is indeed a worthy recognition as the plumber’s skill and expertise is now endorsed by the world’s leading pump manufacturer – increasing consumer confidence and marketability.

“I have been a plumber for more than 10 years, but by attending this programme it helped me learn some latest technologies and skills. Training like this is common is the West, so I am happy that now there are programmes like this specifically designed for plumbers in Malaysia.” said Mr. Dominic Yan of Deltronic Sdn Bhd, one of the graduates.

Grundfos is also proud to have the support of 2 business partners for this programme. Acknowledging the value this programme brings to plumbers, The Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Plumbing Association extended its full support by encouraging members to participate in the programme. IRWIN Tools, a well-known American brand also provided training on the proper usage of professional plumbing tools. At the same time, a complimentary IRWIN tool kit was presented to the graduating plumbers.

Intake for the next batch of plumbers is in July 2015.

Interested plumbers can register with Grundfos at 03-55692922 (Ms Vivian Woon / Ms Michelle Lim).
